Abstract
This
article presents facts and information about the ever failing Veterans
Administrations practices and procedure when it comes to Veterans claiming
their hard earned benefits. I also argue what changes should be made to better
serve those veterans claiming benefits. The argument of this essay is the fact
that many veterans are experiencing service connected disabilities either
mental or physical and it is effecting their everyday lives. The fact that
there are documented cases of veterans dying from medical complications simply because
they were waiting so long for their first appointment should raise flags
everywhere. Every single person who has ever served has truly offered up the
greatest sacrifice and that is putting their own life in harm’s way and with
that should be repaid in turn for their sacrifice. Thousands of wrong doings by
these veterans have simply been overlooked and swept under the rug but no more
should we tolerate this. I have unveiled firsthand accounts with the terrible
treatment of veterans and lack of willingness by VA officials to accept that
fact their administration should be shut down and revamped completely. These
events have effected thousands of veterans and their families and I want to
tell their story as I am a veteran myself. The fact that it took so long to discover
just how many backlogs, missed diagnoses, and deaths occurred on the VA’s hands
is simply disgusting.
