Chapter 7
Plagiarism is something that should be very clearly covered
in any course before beginning a writing project. I will ensure any information
directly taken from a source is in quotations and properly cited on the works cited
page. Paraphrasing must done in a manner that differs from what the source says
and is stated in your own words. Highly regarding the basic research ethics
will keep you in the lines of remaining credible and not breaking any rules. I
will be accurately and fairly presenting the information and citing it in the
proper format. If there is any question in whether to obtain permission or not
for the use of a source I will be consulting my instructor and/or the Copyright
Act of 1976 documentation to determine procedure. Any notes I take from a text
I will ensure to include the source name, title, or website and its author so
that I can easily refer back to it. My drafting process will help determine all
of my own information and where to insert sources I am using to where it makes
the most sense. If there is any question as to whether or not my writing would
be considered plagiarizing I will immediately stop and bring it the attention
of my instructor.
